![]() The level design is amazing, it's unusual for this kind of book to be able to pull this off. The world-building is top-notch, with the complex world of alien politics slowly unveiling over time. ![]() That isn't limited to the crawlers, either ! The series doesn't revolve solely around our main characters, they're all able to pull their own and would manage (perhaps not as well, or differently) without Carl and Donut. It's also fantastic to see that they all have their own things going on. The characters are deep and layered, each having their own motivations, emotions, and realistic reactions. If I had to pick one flaw, I guess it would have to be the overreliance on keeping information from the reader to create artificial suspense, as in the final part of Book 5. ![]() The prose itself is great, fitting the tone perfectly with a balanced mix of humor and existential crisis-inducing horror. I'm kinda worried about the ending but that's it. I breezed through the 5 currently released volumes in 15 days and.Įverything is perfect, almost. ![]()
